1. Write a note on the life of Jesus Christ.
Ans: a) Jesus was born at Bethlehem,5 kms away from Jerusalem in Judea
Province.
b) His father and mother were Joseph and-Mary.
c) He was baptised by John at the age of 30.
d) After he was baptised, he started travelling throughout the country preaching religious life.
e) He had twelve disciples called as “Apostles”.
f) Peter was the first apostle.
g) Jesus spent his life serving the poor suffering from poverty and diseases.
h) Jew fundamentalists felt jealous of his popularity and started opposing him for his rejecting the religious dogmas.
i) The Jewish police arrested him and handed him over to the Governor Pontius Pilate. Pontius ordered Crucifixion of Jesus.
j) On Friday, the 7th April of 30 B.C. Jesus was crucified on the hillock of Golgotha by Roman soldiers.
2. List the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Ans: a) He told people to imagine God as their Father and also told that all
human beings were children of God.
b) He advocated universal brotherhood.
c) He told people to shun hypocritical religious practices.
d) He advised people to repent for their sins and seek forgiveness from the God.
e) He asked people to do unto others what they wanted others to do to them.
f) He equated service of Man with Service of God.
g) On the whole his preachings were based on Love, Service and Brotherhood.
3. How did Christianity expand ?
Ans: a) After crucifixion of Christ, his disciples were tortured and some of
them were also crucified.
b) Even so, his disciples started to spread the Christianity.
c) During the time of Emperor Constantine, Christianity was adopted as the State Religion.
d) Subsequently Christianity spread throughout Europe.
e) Today Christian Churches are found throughout the world and have a large number of followers.
4. Write a note on the life of Mohammed Paigambar.
Ans: a) Mohammad Paigambar wasborn at Mecca in 570 A.D.
b) Abdulla and Ameen were his parents.
c) He lost his parents at the age six.
d) He grew up under the care of his uncle.
e) He joined service in a rich widow’s house.
f) Later he married that widow. In course of time they had two sons and four daughters.
g) Mohammad started to meditate in a cave in Mecca.
h) There in his deep meditation an angel’s voice heard to him.
i) The angel said that Mohammad was the Prophet of God (Allah).
j) Later he became the prophet of Allah and began to preach the Divine Gospel.
k) His followers compiled his preachings and published in the form of book called Quran.
l) In the year 622 A.D. He travelled from Mecca to Medina. This journey became popular in history as “Hijira”.
m) After some period he returned to Mecca and breathed his last there.
5. What is “Hijira’ ?
Ans: a) The orthodox community of Mecca opposed the Prophet Mohammad.
b) Due to this he could not preach in Mecca any more.
c) In the year 622 A,D., he travelled from Mecca to Medina.
d) This journey from Mecca to Medina became popular in history as ‘Hijira’.
6. What are the teachings of Islam?
Ans: Kalima – Firm belief in one God
and Mohammad is his prophet.
Namaz – Praying five times daily facing the direction of Mecca.
Roza – Fasting during the Ramzan month from sunrise to sunset.
Zakat – Donating one-fourths of their earnings to the poor.
Haj – Visiting Mecca at least once in their lifetimes.
